The Preferred comes with the 137-horsepower engine. Both other models come with a more potent powertrain. The entry-level Encore offers LED headlights, leatherette seats, and a sweeping digital display. The Sport Touring adds features like a flat-bottom steering wheel, gloss black accents, and wheels with LED taillights. Upgrading to the Avenir gets you the full package, including heated front seats and steering wheel, power-adjustable front seats, dual-zone climate control, leather seats, and additional aesthetic accents on the exterior. Behind the rear row, you’ll find 23.5 cubic feet of cargo space, with up to 50.2 cubic feet available when you fold the rear row. There are two engine options to choose from on your Buick GX. Both are turbocharged three cylinders. The default engine is a 1.2-liter that makes 137 horsepower, and the second offers 155 horsepower. Both engines pair with a continuously variable transmission (CVT) and can be had in FWD or AWD. If you upgrade to AWD, the transmission switches from CVT to an automatic nine-speed. While we don’t expect the Encore GX to win anything at the racetrack this year, it does offer excellent fuel efficiency. In cities, you’ll average 29 MPG; on the open road, you’ll get 31 MPG. The technology in the Encore GX starts with an 11-inch ultrawide infotainment screen that pairs with an 8-inch digital cluster.
