The GMC Sierra EV has experienced considerable success since its release in 2024, prompting the brand to add two more models to its lineup for the 2026 production cycle. GMC adds the Sierra EV Elevation and the AT4 to its lineup, providing consumers with a new entry point to the Sierra EV, as well as an off-road companion in the Sierra EV AT4. Like its gas counterpart, the EV AT4 adds several features to boost performance in challenging conditions, making it an optimal choice for camping, off-road adventures, and even muddy worksites. It creeps near the top of GMC’s EV trucks, justifying its higher price point thanks to all the added performance features. We don’t anticipate many electric AT4s will qualify for the federal EV tax credit, but if you happen to find one under $80,000, the $7,500 tax credit is yours. GMC Sierra EV AT4 Battery and Performance

GMC introduces a new battery option for the Sierra class during this production cycle. While the new battery isn’t featured in the AT4, it shuffles the lineup enough to impact the AT4. The new battery is the smallest, now referred to as the “Standard Battery”. The previous options are being rebranded as the “Extended Battery” and “Max Battery”, although we don’t expect any changes to their size or capacity. The AT4 will come with your choice of the Extended Battery or the Max Battery, offering 390 and 440 miles of range, respectively. All three batteries utilized DC fast chargers, with the Max Battery capable of charging 100 miles in approximately 10 minutes, assuming a 350 kW charging rate. 

The AT4 Extended Range makes 625 horsepower, while the Max Range takes you up to 760 horsepower, with 0 to 60 times hovering around 4.0-4.5 seconds. We are still waiting for GMC to confirm the towing capacity for this trim level, but the lineup as a whole tops out at approximately 12,500 pounds. We expect the AT4 to fall below this number, although it is unlikely to fall below 10,000 lbs. 

New Features in the 2026 GMC Sierra EV AT4

The AT4 boasts a plethora of added features to help you conquer any trail you come across. You’ll find the AT4 sits two inches higher than the rest of the lineup, making it easier to ford bodies of water. The Sierra AT4 also borrows the 4-Wheel Steer feature from the GMC Hummer, helping to reduce your turn radius to that of a compact sedan, while also enabling CrabWalk. CrabWalk has numerous practical parking applications, and it’s a lot of fun to showcase. Other features to note include Terrain Mode for navigating difficult conditions, and GM’s Super Cruise Hands-Free driving platform for off-road driving. All told, the GMC Sierra EV AT4 quickly becomes one of the most fun pickups in GMC’s arsenal.
